Property prices in England and Wales up 5.3% year on year, latest index shows

House prices in England and Wales increased by 0.7% in February compared to the previous month and are up 5.3% year on year, according to the latest Land Registry House Price Index. It means that the average house price in England and Wales is now £170,000 compared with the peak of £181,658 in November 2007.
